I have a Blue Phantom Pleco & a Green Spotted Pleco

Once you start getting into the more unusual plecos the price continues to rise. In some cases it is too much money to spend for a fish that with spend the majority of its time out of sight

plecos are amazing.......but they create an insane amount of waste. good filters and heavy watere changes and gravel clesaning is a must

I like royal plecos, a store near me has some larger ones but they are $. I also like albino sailfin plecos.

The true zebra pleco(L046) is pretty, but curse you if you can afford it:-P! Thats just too much money for that size of a fish. I'd be much happier buying a couple motoro stingrays instead, or some show quality discus.

True zebra plecos are beautiful little plecos that get only 3" long. Current DECENT price I can find online is on aquabid for $1600 for 10 fish($160 each) from germany though. There's currently an auction at $130 for 1 fish, but its still got 10 days to go:lol:. Usually the only people who keep these are those who want to breed them. These fish will always be in high demand do to their looks and they are difficult to breed. They also are nocturnal, so you don't see them much.( None of these pics are mine.)

Other better choices, that are cheaper, hardier, and just as cool IMO.

I could go on too.... when buying any of the more exotic plecos. Breeding is important. Its usually best to buy them from someone who breeds or imports them. Its good to see pics of the adults or grown up fish. Its cheapest to buy very young fish. The gold nugget and snowball I've seen carried by a store locally. They bring them in at only about an 1" long, they cost $20-30 at this size.
