Do you think it is safe to put this piece of wood in my freshwater tank?
I have gotten all the bark off....
scrubbed it down....
boiled it for a long time...

its just a piece of wood i got off a dead tree limb that has fallen.Heres the tree it] came from i dont know what kind of tree it is.

Without knowing what kind of wood it is, I would say never add it to a fish tank, even if boiled. Some types of wood can be toxic in an aquarium environment. The other issue is that wood picked up from outside may contain many types of pollution, parasites, bacterias, and fungus... and boiling alone cannot assure its safety in a tank. I would strongly suggest when adding wood to an aquarium that it be purchased at a pet store where you are assured it has been properly treated to be safe. The companies that sell aquarium wood pieces go through chemical treatments of the wood and special drying processes to remove anything that would be harmful to aquarium inhabitants.
