Will Neons school with Black Neons??
Hi all, I have a tank with 5 black neon tetras, and was thinking about getting some neons, and I was wondering if I could just get a couple and let them shoal with the black neons, or if I needed to get a whole group of neons as well.
Each of those species will school school with their own kind, not typically together. Keep the sizes of the 2 species close so the new neons don't become food for the black neons.
Mine did not school togeather.
Good to know, thanks!
In my planted tank, the neons and black tetras don't even school with their own kind. They are all loners.
I have added 4 new black tetras and they school with the neons. Not sure how long they will do that. Interesting. Before, my wife had both kinds and they didn't school togeather but we got those from petco and they died within 2-4 days.
I keep neons, black neons and flame tetras together. They don't school together, although sometimes one school will be in the midst of another and it can look like they are.
I can't see a black neon eating a neon....
I dont have black neons---but I do have normal neons--they school very tightly together---probably has something to do with the 4.5 inch Rainbow Shark that patrols the tank.
interesting, I was going to ask this question as well, lol.
Good to know! too bad I can't put 2 neons with 2 black neons... oh well :)
