Convict Cichlids Strange Behaviour

I brought a lovely breeding pair of convicts, fully grown, not to old as there is no hump on the male, very attatched to each other...

i have a 40 gallon tank, 2 convicts, 5 tetras
Will be upgrading the tank in the new year.

my main reason for posting is, everytime i go near the tank, the convicts fly around and hide. its very irritating, even when i feed them the female only nips out for a minute or two and hides again. but when im not near the tank, they swim around happily.

will this behaviour continue??

thanks

ok so i answered to ur other post but for this ill answer again. if you add more decorations in your tank they will feel more secure, not necessarily decorations but hiding areas, clay pots, rocks, plants, etc.
