25 centimeters would not be uncommon. I would expect an adult male to reach eight to ten inches.

I too have heard reports that the electric blue dempsey at under two inches,, has weak immune sytem. It becomes important to see that water quality does not suffer for the fish will be more suceptible to bacterial pathogens or parasites. It is said that once the fish reaches two inches,,that they have much better capabilities with regards to immune sytem development.

When young, yes. As they mature they get less active, in my experience. Jack Dempsey's are great fish!

There's no telling.

What are the sizes of the two fish?

I can't imagine a firemouth beating up on a dempsey.
