Thai Micro crabs?
Anyone keep these? They have me fascinated, but I've read that, for some people, they rarely make an appearance. I don't want to get some, only to never see them! Does anyone have them come out regularly, and how is your tank set up?
I was interested in them for a while until I saw them in person. They are almost impossible to see and very good at hiding. I decided to pass and got mexican dwarf crayfish instead.
I also have CPOs, two of them, and love them! They are great. I did get 5 Micro crabs today. They were bigger than I expected! I got two adults, since they are half an inch long, two half grown, and one tiny baby. They stayed right where I put them by some PVC tubes, but then migrated to either the clay pot or the piece of driftwood. I did, however, see one out a while ago, and just now saw another one! So it appears they DO come out--I think it's just that most tanks are pretty big compared to their size, and it's hard for you to spot them. I have them in a 4 gallon tank with just the one small piece of driftwood, 2 PVC tubes and moss and the clay pot. I hope they continue to come out because they are awesome! I had them crawling on my hands and fingers. One even jumped off my hand, back into the tank! But generally they seem to be slow movers. If I do well with them, I'm definitely going to get at least five more! I'm hooked. Here's a few pics of the bigger ones. The smaller ones are just too small to get even halfway decent pics.
