How much heat for 150 gal?
How much heat do I want to get for a 150 gal tank? From my figuring I come up with 700 watts. Do they even make such an animal??

your definitely going to need more than one heater, ive never ever seen one like that. I would suggest the stealth heater by maineland. Very accurate and reliable not to mention virtually indestructible. Maybe 3 250 watt heaters would do you some justice.

I might consider two Hydor Theo 400 watt heaters. They are submersible and have lifetime warranty and aren't too expensive.

I'd say that 700 watts is likely more than you're really going to need. One of the nice parts of larger aquariums is that their heating requirements go down in relation to small tanks. More mass, less surface area. I think that a pair of 300 watt heaters will probably be plenty. I agree with Moneymitch on the Stealths, very very good heaters.

I agree with the 2 300 watt heaters, one on each end of the tank.........Marineland, Hydor.....both good heaters, dont see much difference in either one....Both brands have good reputations and reliability........I would go with which ever you find cheaper.......

OK cool I was thinking bout going with the stealth. Do They have a light to show that it's on? Also, I plan to place them in the sump, any problems with that? Any other feedback on the stealths??

they dont have a light or anything and are made to be hidden very easy thus no light and black skin. just get a thermo and keep a eye on it to make sure they dont go out theyll do fine in your sump.
