- - Pluto's demotion
|Lupin ||08-26-2006 09:10 AM |
Well, the news finally showed that the astronomers finally decided to downgrade the Pluto's status from planet to dwarf planet. This leaves 8 planets at present. However, an unofficial named planet, Xena is being given consideration to be promoted as "planet".
Now, there's a lot of revision to do with science books and educational curriculums.:wink:

If people can get paid lots and lots of money to sit around and decide what is/isn't a planet, then I think we should get paid lots of money to do what we are good at to. I think they should of left it how it was. I grew up learning that there were 9 planets, now my children have to learn something else, plus now they have to spend more money redoing all the science books and educational curriculums. :D

where did this "new" planet come from? seems to me that it would take a LONGGGGGGG time to create a new planet floating around out there, so it must have been out there the whole time... so why didnt they see it when they first discovered the original planets? especially if its bigger than pluto is? sounds FISHY to me...hehehe

Pluto was demoted also because it's smaller than the Charon and Ceres. :roll:
