Should I remove platy fry from gravel or leave be?
Hello, I'm a first time fish keeper so please don't judge me on my fish breeding skills, I promise I'll get better! Basically, one of my platy's has given birth. Unfortunately only one can be found :(. Right now he's hiding quite deep in the gravel, he's wriggling around quite happy popping out at different places. However I'm aware that there is obviously not much room in there for him there and he is in my community tank. My question is, should I just leave him be and hope that he will come out when he feels safe and big enough and he will hide in my plants or should I attempt to scoop him out and put him in the breeding net. If so, how do I get him out of the gravel without hurting him? Any advice is great!
I'd leave things as they are. If you want to save the platy fry in the future, you might set up a birthing tank. As long as you have female live bearers, you're going to have occasional fry. Accordingly, it's a good idea to have a plan as to how you're going to handle the fry.
Unfortunatly baby fish died :( I now have a breeding box for next time though :)
