You can overfeed so much food that it pollutes your tank. But most fish usually will stop after they get a bit of food. (not bettas, they keeps eating and eating) I dont know if there is a specific amount of food you should be feeding.

in another thread someone wrote that fish will eat as much as they can because in the wild they never know when they will get there next meal.....my platy used to be little on the heavy side....

they are known to do that, one or two feedings a day is good. They are known beggers.

so its normal for him to be complaining at the top the tank the weriod part is there is 4 feeders and he dont want them he wants the pellets

Rohland 10-22-2009 08:22 PM

Feeders? As in feeder fish?
You shouldnt be feeding those as a stable diet. Especially if you bought them, you can use them as a treat once a month, but the fry should be your own bred fry so you know there isnt any diseases in them. Also the provide no nutiritonal value to your fish's diet. So its a waste to feed them actually.

yea there roses but he dont want them hes bugging for the cichlid pellets i think lol

i love how the firemouth learns to flare and the oscar learns how to beg same week thats funny

im pretty sure that due to oscars digestive track they actually arent built to digest live food. its bad for them and can cause internal problems, for the most part they are vegitarians since they have the digestive track for it. as far as begging goes whenever anyone is next to my tank everyone goes to the top and nips at the top of the water even if you just fed them 5 mins ago. some fish learn how to beg some dont. oscars are known for their personality and begging.
