T8 Bulbs need to be broken in?

To gt right to the point, instead of having 4 50/50 bulbs, I got 2 18,000K and 2 actinic. My tank is now REALLY dark. do T8's need to be broken in? It doesn't look bad...just rather dark.

its because they emit blue light not the normal whitey coloured light.

^^^ He got it. 18000K is a bit on the blue side of things. Usually even MHs are around 14000K from what I have seen. Any reason for choosing that blue of a light? that high of a K temp is really cutting out your lights output/penetrating power...

it comes down to I'm an idiot. the brand I bought didn't have a 10,000K bulb which is what I would have gone with. I think it was 4500K, 6500, and then it jumped to 18,000K. And since I don't know too much about light temps and what no, I went with the one that said it was for saltwater. Should I return them and just get a different brand so I can get 10,000K?

Your fish and plants wont mind, the plants can still use the 18000k light

Its more personal preference.

Cool. It's just a fish only so I don't have corals to worry about. It does look nice, its just darker what I'm used to.
