heater reccommendations

so i live in florida and keep my house set at about 80deg f which has helped to maintain my water temp around 80-81 deg. we are having our first cold front of the winter (in the upper 50s low 60s at night and mid 70s durring the day) for those of you who live north of here yes i said COLD!! lol...but my tank temp dropped from 80 to about 76-77 in a 36 hour period...i have 2 questions...1)will this affect my fish in a negative way, and 2)is there any heater better then the next???

the stealth seris from marineland are top of the line IMHO, as for your temp flux i wouldnt worry about it

You weren't really concerned for your team in regards to the weather, were you? Those pansy (insert word of choice here) Dodgers must have been freezing their (insert word of choice here) off.

Molliefan, I agree, cold front! The high of mid 70's and lo of 60's has hit Southern California too. Brrrr. I use Marineland Stealth Visitherm heaters in all my tanks. As of late they've had to kick on daily.

thanx for all the input...i will google the stealth now and get some info on it

molliefan09 10-20-2009 12:17 PM

so i googled the stealth and it seems like a great quality heater...although i could not find anything with the cost of this heater. I found this heater...let me know what you think

My 100w stealth cost close to 30 bucks (maybe 150w?). I live in NY and my room temp does fluctuate, but looks like the tank temp is at a steady 82 all the time. There is no "on" light, but thats the whole idea of stealth right? haha. Anyway, I liked how it looked, and I like marineland so I got it, and its been doing a good job so far. The only thing is that mine still has air bubbles all over for some reason, looks like an ornament!

imo tetra is a bargain brand. one thing NOT to cheap on is your heater. i found three 250 watt stealth heaters on craigslist for 5$ maybe we can work out a deal and ill sell you one. they go anywhere from like 45-60$ new

molliefan09 10-20-2009 07:21 PM

is 250 too much for my 20 gallaon?? i def. dont want to go with a bargain brand usually by the time ive used, worn out and bought again i could have the same if not less money if would i would have just sucked it up and bought the better one to begin with. moneymitch.....that would be cool if we could work something like that out!! i would greatly appriciate it!!
