Nest for gourami
I have a powder blue dwarf gourami that I'd like to set him up a spot in the tank that he can make a nest any ideas about an easy setup?

My secret is salvinia. Specifically salvinia has really fine, almost fuzzy roots that hold bubbles REALLY well. My guy's nest can get up to 8" in diameter in salvinia.

Are you trying to breed the gourami? When I had Gouramis, I added some fake plants from the reptile section. They had suction cups, to hold them in place at the top of the tank, where I wanted them. Gouramis find great comfort in floating plants, real or fake. Breeding gouramis, I know nothing about.

Just read kellys post, my gouramis never made a nest.

Floating plants are frikkin' KEY. I don't breed, but the plants help stop the bubblenest from 'scattering' in the current of the filter.

no he's the lone gourami, i do have some fake grassy things i could uproot for him. I just figured i'd try to do something for him so he don't hang out by the heater all day

How big is your tank and whats the stocking like? Do you have many plants and decorations for him to investigate?

i have a few fake plants. it's a 55g there are 6 fish all still pretty small i thought about live plants but i have 2 fish that love to dig, my severum and geophagus. i noticed on day after cleaning the tank i had fake plant matt floating on the top and he seemed to follow it around the top. i also have been looking for a free floating plant that they i won't have to worrie about being dug up.
