trip to baltimore national aquarium
so i went to the baltimore national aquarium today AND IT WAS AMAZING! on halloween im going to see a lotus concert at sonar and have never driven up to baltimore myself so drove with my dad to learn the directions and since we were going up decided to go to the aquarium and bring my girlfriend who is also going to the concert.
i havent been to the aquarium in years but have wanted to go ever since they built a new Australian exhibit along with a brand new jellyfish exhibit that was built this year. it was really interesting walking through and seeing all of the different biotope aquariums. as soon as you walk into the building there is a large tank filled with rainbow trout and other native species with a large waterfall cascading down from the Australian exhibit. once inside the main area on the first floor the major of the space is taken up by a large oblong shaped tank that you can walk over filled with nurse sharks, sea skates, a few turtles and some other sharks. the rest of the first floor contained various fresh water tanks and a circular tank filled with a striped puffer fish( i think) and 5 or 6 lion fish......i decided im not going to describe every tank i saw and ill just list the different fish i saw and where.
a clown fish in a tank with a bubble anemone, emperor angelfish, 3 or so copperband butterflyfish, blue tang, yellow tang
another tank with a few of the same species in adition to clown triggerfish, banggai and pajama cardinal fish
a small tank with a few pinecone fish
long horn cowfish
almost all of the angelfish including a massive tank filled with sharks a very very big porcupine puffer fish and several queen angelfish
some squirrel fish
a tank with discus, corries, cardinal tetras,silver/ marble hatchetfish,rummy-nose tetras, zebra pleco, goldie pleco
congo tetras with a crocidile a 2 1/2 foot long black bellied pacu angel fish
a cave themed tank with blind tetras
3 different cichlid tanks, a very large frontosa
one of my favorite tanks
20 or so archer fish with maybe 50 australian rainbowfish, celebes rainbowfish, threadfin rainbowfish
a 4 foot long red tailed catfish, gar, butterfly fish
pignose turtles(very funny), softshell turtles
a whiptail catfish (thought of byron)
upside down catfish
several australian blue crayfish and different tanks
sad that i didnt see any mono, danios, live bearer's, and i didnt see very many live plants or live coral and inverts
every time i saw something that looked like mono i got really excited but then sad when i figured out that it wasnt
i also saw planet earth shallow seas in 4d which was pretty awsome
so all in all it was pretty much the best day ever and i got to go around guessing all of the fish in the tanks and then finding out what they were
and then we went to cheese cake factory which was the best dinner ever
cheesy pasta with sun dried tomatoes and then some "awesome carrot cake cheese cake"
That's sounds like a fantastic day! I'm envious. I agree, those pignose turtles are cute!
(I'm embarassed. I have to go google Lotus. Is that a band?)
PS. Carrot Cake Cheese Cake rules!!
