It's either a threadfin geophagus or a Surinamensis i think it's a thread fin but looked in a fish atlas and it looked like the surinamensis it's kinda confusing because i also saw some videos of threadfin that looked just like him????

Article: Geophagus tapajos "Red head" - Tropical Fish Forums UK

here are some more pictures to compare to. now im not 100% on this but the pictures are very similar and im going to assume that they dont get the nice red color untill thgey are sexually mature but then again i may be wrong. hope this helps.

that does look alot look him but then look at these.. they all look alike

Thread-Finned Cichlid - Acarichthys heckelii

Geophagus surinamensis

the color on the second looks different but it could be due to my lighting, the only real differance in discriptions is one is a cave breeder one is an open breeder and one gets 12 to 14 inches. The 12 to 14 inches is what had me wondering because i will deffinatly need a much bigger tank.

but now thats 3 different names for the same looking fish

yeah thats why im not totally sure if that is it or not. i def think it is a geophagus though. i think the pics you found are alot more closer than the one i found. hopefully a geo wiz will be able to help ya out~
