Strange guppy death
I have 5 male guppies in a 15g along with a few pouch snails (the snails hitchiked on a plant and I let them stay)
This morning during feeding time, I noticed one of the guppies did not eat. While I fed the others, he was just swimming at the other side of the aquarium, investigating some decor. I was in a bit of a hurry to leave, so I thought nothing of this. A skipped feeding wouldn't do harm to a fish, and it was still a bit active.
Tonight when I returned home, he was dead. Lying on a rock. I took him out and buried him, and tested the waters. Everything normal. Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 10. All within safe range. It's been only 3 days since the last weekly water change too. The only evidence I've seen on the body is some reddening inside the head. I said inside because it appeared like internal bleeding or something, given the slightly transparent skin around guppy heads.
The other 4 seem alright. I tried giving a little food tonight to see if they respond, and they did eat.
might have just been some sort of natural cause or even a rare case of aggression. what is your water temp at?
My temp swings from 27 to 31 Celsius depending on the weather. Tropical country. Water temps of 25 are already "cold" here.
Once we're done clearing out the garage, I'll be moving the tank there, so hopefully the temperature will stabilize somewhat. It's currently in a semi outdoors (with roof but no walls) area.
I guess the temperatures could be the cause. The remaining 4 are active as ever, though.
