UV Sterilizer

Another quick question....

I have a UV Sterilizer running on my tank. I was wondering if that makes the plant supplements weaker or not as effective? Also, I've seen a lot of DIY CO2 systems, and I was wondering if these work.

supplements used

sorry... the supplements I use are all the seachem products. Excel Flourish, Phospherous, Iron, etc.
