DIY Metal Halides
I was just wondering if anoyone has ever made metal halides before. They are going to go on a 125 gallon tank, along with 200 watts of power compacts that are on there now. Thought it might be a little cheaper to make them from scratch. Thanks for any help.
I have found a few sites that show cheap, effective DIY Metal Halide systems:
This is a screw bulb version.
I have read somewhere about taking apart a halogen shop light and fitting a 10000k metal halide bulb and wiring in a ballast, but I cannot find the link. That would come with the reflector and splash guard already mounted, and you can find this at any decent hardware store (the shop light at least). I am going to dig for that article.
