Fish keeping is a joy.
I just refreshed my forums page and gained a whole bunch of TFK forums... I only had betta specific forums for like, the past three weeks... anyone care to explain how that happened? It really shocked me to gain so many forums.
Anyways, Eva here. Senior at Michigan State University, majoring in Environmental Economics and Policy. I live alone in a small apartment, and while visits from the boyfriend are great on the weekends, I was feeling pretty lonely the rest of the time, and had been giving a TON of thought to getting a small aquatic animal (only kind the lease lets me have). After two days straight of homework neglect because I was researching (I over-research sometimes), I went out to the LPS and picked out a lovely DeT EE betta boy Tycho. Got him a one gallon, knowing I'd be waiting a week before I got my monthly "here's some cash" check from my mom before I could upgrade him to a 2.5 gallon. Figured the one gallon would be a nice hospital tank.
A week later and after Tycho's upgrade, I decided I had room for a second, and wanted a female, so in came Esmeralda, a lovely DeT female. She stayed in the one gallon for a week after I got her from PetSmart, so I could keep an eye on things and treat her for a minor bacteria infection (lots of WC and AQ salt). Once that cleared up and I found out I didn't need a new car battery, it was out to upgrade her with a 2.5 gallon also.
Tycho now has a snail buddy to clear up the algae in his tank. Esmeralda will probably not get one, her nickname is "Shark Lady" because she's an aggressive little fish. I adore them muchly, and they bring me great joy. :D
Sorry for the ramble, but hello all!
