What are some good Floating plants? I'm wondering what are some good, easy, floating plants for a 10g Betta sorority? I don't want anything that is going to get HUGE. I've google, but it doesn't seem to do much help. :-? I have a florescent bulb in the hood, but I'm not sure how many watts it is... Thanks!! |
I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but Hornwort grew fast for me. I had a piece of it in my tank by accident and it grew like a weed. Google Image Result for http://naturalaquariums.com/plants/hornwort2.jpg |
THANK YOU!! That helps a lot! I'll get some hornwort soon! :) |
Most of the stem plants will float freely. For a betta, an authentic floating plant is Ceratopteris (water sprite, floating fern). It develops numerous daughter plants on the leaves, and these can be removed and will quickly grow and produce daughter plants... etc. I just pull out the largest Ceratopteris plants when I do the weekly partial water change, removing a few of the small daugthter plants, and from week to week I have much the same cover in the tank. The trailing roots are a haven for bubblenest builders (betta, gourami) and a constant grazing ground for minute food bits. Very natural. Byron. |
