Accidental mystery fry?!
All sorts have passed through this 60 litre recently.
Zebra danios, cherry barbs, pearl danios and a singular female guppy. 3 or 4 days ago I introduced a pair of convicts. Today I proceeded to take the rest of the fish over to my 120, assuming the convicts would remove them by their own means otherwise.
Just went to feed the convicts and saw a few fry swimming around and hanging on the glass. Only about 4 or 5 that I could see but it's still a massive shock.
The convicts have only just finished digging out under the driftwood (about 2 inches of sand - impressed!).
The guppy was a loner, though it could have been pregnant before I purchased it? Didn't look it.
The cherry barbs and danios are the main contenders.
I'm going to do my very best to raise these little chaps, if not only to see who the naughty little blighters were who made them!
Alright to just VERY finely crush flake food for them? I lost my wallet tuesday, so I have no means of buying any liquid/other food unfortunately.
Congrats on the fry!!! You can feed finely crushed flake food to the fry and they should be fine..........
Awesome. Good to know I can blag it with food I already have.
The more I catch the more I find. I had caught about 15-20 into the breeding trap, but the are so small they crept out!
About 10 in the net now.
Good start to the new breeding tank I suppose. Babies before I was even ready for them!
What a nice surprise. LOL
Take the fry out or they're dinner!
And if they are clinging to the glass, they are egg layer fry. Livebearer fry are born, usually flutter around at the surface for a little while, then go straight to the bottom and find shelter.
They're in a net at the moment, draped in the tank.
I have no spare tanks set up to house them. I was planning on breeding the convicts in my spare, not anything else!
Thanks for the info mate. Narrows it down to cherry barbs, zebra danios or pearl danios. Or some sort of hybrid I suppose.
I didn't think I had any male zebras. Or any female pearls, so it's a possibility.
I definitely had male and female cherry barbs, so thats probably the most likely.
