there is a dead fry hanging from my mother fish!!
my blue and black swordtail jumped out of our tank twice. she is fighting with any fish that comes near her and i think i know why. i knew she was pregnant but i think the babies are dead due to her jumping out. she doesnt want to release the fry from her. i know its a fry because poop is coming out a millimeter away from the dead fry. is this normal?

yep she gave birth to a dead baby fry. it fell of when another fish came up to her but guess what my angelfish was waiting i guess for it and it ate it poor thing ='(. but i want to know if she will have more or if its normal and if its premature or something cause it looked like a fry to me?

She will have more eventually. Its called still birth, or a mother "aborts" the pregnancy. Usually when they are to stressed. My platys did it a few years ago.

oh i was wondering what stillborn was. thx she is more skinnier today im not sure if she had them all or if she just had some. i have an angelfish so it must have ate them probably. but anyway she still looks big on the sides is she still pregnant? i never saw her without a pregnancy so im not sure if she is or isnt.

it doesnt matter. I am pretty sure you won't be getting any live births now, since she has started letting out still born. She may continue to let them out or she may just absorb them back into her body.

maybe she absorbed them cause she is skinnier. she jumped out of the fish tank 2 times maybe thats why she cant have live fry.
