Mollies in distress! New tank. New member.
I don't have the space or the means to keep a quarantine tank which seems to be the main solution here. My fish are at an advanced stage of velvet & are developing cotton mouth. I'm not comfortable using lots of chemicals. My question is can anyone suggest an alternative or should I just let nature take it's course?
How does your water test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph?
I would start doing daily water changes to lower ammonia and nitrite.
Not sure what other fish are in the tank, but for mollies, it would not hurt to add some salt to the tank. A tablespoon per 5 gallons of water, dissolve first. The salt will also help the nitrite be less toxic.
Mollies do better in hard water with a higher ph. Do you know your ph?
