help me help my mystery snails
I purchased mystery snails based on the info I was given at the LFS---they said they would survive in my tank with no additional feeding for them. Since then, Ive read that you should feed the snails and that they require different care than the fish.

They are currently in a 10g tank ( parameters of 78* 7.6pH ) with a rainbow shark and two corys ( leopard I think ) with watersprite floating on top. I feed the shark and the corys shrimp pellets and sinking wafers--but I havent done anything special for the snails. They just kind of roam around the tank and climb the walls and decor.

I plan to move the shark out of the 10g and put him in my 29g and add a Paradise Fish and 3 more Corys to the 10g. What should I do to help the snails stay healthy but not disrupt the fish? I added a Tums tablet one day after reading about it on here--the tank was very cloudy for a day or two afterwards-is that common?

Feeding plans and supplement suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I feed my snail cucumbers and zuchinni. Make sure you wash really well, slice a piece, spear it with a fork(some people use a veggie clip) and watch them enjoy. Your cories will probably eat it also. It may take a time or two before they realize its food so keep trying. If you look closely you will see my snail and a ghost shrimp having dinner. Good Luck!!!

Tums does cloud the water because of high sucrose content. I added a warning on that in one of the sticky threads here. There is no lasting harm done however.

Umm okay, what are the Tums for!?!?!:-)

Snails need calcium to grow their shells and keep their shells nice and healthy. The Tums provides calcium.
It is important to provide calcium if the water has a low KH.
