Just planted new plants...huge mess.
Got my plant kit today...planted them, looks like the plants waged world war 3 in my tank...leaves and debris everywhere. Should I just leave it to settle or should I attempt getting it out?

You can always use a fish net to remove the larger "particles" but as far as the smaller debris your filter is going to have to do most of the work. I had to clean out my prefilters every 24 hours for a few days in a row after the last "major" planting that I did. Once it clears will you post pics of your plants? I'm very interested in seeing what a plant kit consists of. Didn't you get a "South American" plant package??

I got a SA plant kit from AAG. Since I have a very large piece of driftwood in the tank, I decided to go with a smaller package than what they say for a 55 gal. It looks good to me though. I will put up pics once I get all my fish transferred over and it's all cleared up. South Central American Plant Habitats
As far as lighting goes, I have a 48" all glass twin tube, with life glo bulbs.
Flourish for fertilizer. I just got them today, so I can't tell you about weekly dosage because so far my dosage is once. lol. I'm going to shoot for twice a week.

Here's a pic I took shortly after I planted them, I've since rearranged and cleaned some of the gunk out. You can't see the whole tank in the pic either. I will get better ones up when it's done.

Looks good, Herky. Just let them settle in. Some of those will fill out very well after a couple months. Nice arrangement.

Thanks Byron! I may do some rearranging again after everything gets settled. Make sure the taller plants get put toward the back. Some are crammed in there, there are quite a few plants that are behind others that you can't see, so I guess I'll just have to wait until they fill out and see how they need to be arranged so they can all be viewed.

I love it! Once your plants fill out your tank is going to be a showpiece. Nice job. :-D

Looks fantastic Herky and that's a nice piece of driftwood!!! I planted my tank 8 weeks ago and I cannot believe how HUGE everything is growing. I have tons of new baby plants growing too. It's amazing to watch them grow. If you didn't add root tabs, do so with the swords. I've been adding them and the growth is amazing. I'm also doing pps pro dosing schedule, but I truly believe the root tabs help alot with the swords.
BTW Herky, I know you'll appreciate this. I have angelfish wigglers!!! I had to divide my 75g because my breeding pair was aggressive with the others. Wednesday morning I noticed they laid eggs, Thursday morning the eggs were still on the leaf, Friday the eggs were moved another leaf and wiggling. I put the wigglers in a 10 gallon yesterday. I'm trying to hatch bbs now because they'll need food once they're free swimming, which could be today or tomorrow. We'll see. I'm going to give it a shot. Next time they lay eggs though...I'm pulling them. This is very stressful.
