How many zebra danios?

After my disastrous run with the pygmy cories, I thought I would try something simple that has been living in our local water, so I need an opinion on what to get for an empty 5 gallon. The options I have thought of:

1 dwarf puffer

-or-

3 zebra danios

Any other suggestions are welcome, the key factors being that I have medium hard/hard water and pH above 7.5.

Zebra danios, like all the danio family, are active swimmers and do better with more space to swim fairly fast. I wold suggest more sedate fish for a 5g. Fish that come from ponds and marshes will normally be quiet.

Byron.

Thanks Byron!

If only I could keep 3-4 cories in a 5g....sigh. :-(

Any suggestions? BTW, the 4 shellies in the 10g seem to be doing OK...when I see them, anyway ;-)
