Will this Help???

Hey, how is this?

Light for A Ten Gallon Tank:

I just got a free..,
All Glass Aquarium.,Inc.
120volt…19Watt…60hz
20” Fluorescent Aquarium Reflector Light
(Which Is Better Flourescent or Incandesent?)
(I Forgot.)

flourescent is much better as will help your efforts to grow plants...in fact thats almost four times the watts/gal than I have running on my tank and this is what I've managed to do.

How many Gallons is your tank...and How many watts is your Light?

FDStation152 02-01-2007 04:16 PM

thats a 37 gallon tank and I only have a 20 watt flourescent tube.

Matt 02-01-2007 04:19 PM

ok..I lied...the tube is 15watt and the casing is 19watt max.
(Opps)

Still more watts per gallon than me

musho3210 02-01-2007 04:40 PM

matt i use the same light, it is fine since all you are growing are java moss and hornwort, both dont need much light, obviously still use flourecent but you wont need anything that has more watts than that, that light is fine, you shouldnt really invest too much in your 10 gallon tank and rather focus more on your 50 gallon. And anyway you are planning to change the 10 gallon to a vivavarium which is great.

Matt 02-01-2007 05:48 PM

yeah, no more money on the 10 gallon untill i am working on the viviarium.

Incandescent are useless in a planted tank.

True, but its a lot less light. The WPG rule is good for 20 to 60 gallon aquariums. Smaller tanks like a 10 gallon need more light to get the same light output. Larger tanks over the 60g point need less light.
