Do you know this skimmer ?
I recently purchased a used 75 gallon aquarium. It came with this skimmer that I can't get adjusted so that I have the foam coming up the tube. The guy told me there were two adjustments. If I pull up the white pvc tube all it does is up the water inside. Sorry for the horrible pic, but maybe it's good enough to identify. All I can read on the skimmer is "Pro Clear Aquatic Systems", no model number. The skimmer is 20" tall.

I am not familiar with the skimmer, but the design is simple to understand and there is no reason that this skimmer would not be effective on a 75 gallon tank.
You do not want to raise the PVC so high that foam is coming up the neck into the collection cup. When you first start a skimmer, you should raise the water height inside the skimmer to about 2'' below the neck. As foam develops and the skimmer breaks in, the foam will push up the column and into the collection cup. You will make small adjustments to the PVC output to slightly raise or lower the water height inside the skimmer body, until you find the perfect level for a nice dark and thick foam. The best foam will be very thick and paste like, or at least a very dark coffee colored liquid.

It's a sealife systems skimmer. I couldn't find any information on it. It probably has a RIO 800 on it. If it is that, you need to do everything Pasfur said ;-)

Thanks again guys ! I never used a skimmer before and had no idea how to adjust it, seems so easy now.
