Help!!! New arowana not eating???
Picked up a 14" arowana from a guy on craigslist this past Monday. Fish was super healthy and active when I got it. It's now Thursday and I haven't seen him eat anything! He's in with my community so when I feed the tank they get floating pellets, flakes, crisps, carnivore pellets, and I bought crickets the other day as well. He doesn't seem to be eating anything. And now one of his barbs looks to be deteriorating....health issue???
Hope some people will have some insight on this. I spent a lot of money and would hate to see it go down the toilet....thanks
Its always a good idea to quarantine new fish, no matter where you get them from. Quarantine is not just about preventing disease, but also providing the fish time to adjust, among other things.
I think 14" is a little too big to go down the toilet. ;-) Haha excuse me.
Do you know what the old owner was feeding him?
Valid points, my tank is a 160G, the arowana was previously in a 230G from previous owner. My stock includes a 12" tiger shovelnose, 12" jaguar, 5 bala sharks from 7"-12", 3 full size angel fish, 4" firemouth, 8" flagtail, 12" black ghost knife fish, about a dozen plecos ranging in size from 4"-12", marble catfish, and a variety of other little catfish. The water quality is prestine. I have 4 large filters, do monthly water changes, never any issues with water quality or fish health. I actually just did a water change a week and a half ago.
