will this light work??? help
ok so i have made my first newt tank! ive had FW tanks for yrs, but have never had live plants! i want this tank to look natural and beautiful! i bought some aponogenton bulbs form my local walmart. and i have placed them half in my sand substrate for them to grow and done this sun sept 20th! since its a half land and half water tank (for the newt) it has a screen top (for now). i used my regular lamp beside my tank with a swirly energy efficient bulb thats 23watts! will this work for the plants to grow?????????? im only going to plant very hardy very easy to grow plants. for now its just the apono's

No a regular lamp will not grow plants...Go to Google and type in "proper lighting aquarium plants":-)
cfls WILL GROW PLANTS i have done this myself and it works. as long as the light is directed INTO the tank you will be fine. again CFLS WILL GROW PLANTS.
If you actually read the entire post he wrote you will see towards the end him asking if his "swirly light" next to his tank would work. which it will if he can somehow direct the light towards the tank. i would be ghetto but you could do it.
What is CFLS?
Compact Florescent Light AKA CFL, AKA Swirly bulbs
I have a light that come with a tank is that enough for plants?
