one side of the tank

I have a 35 gal tank and I am wondering why my fish spend most of their time in 1 half of it. They swim around once in a while but mostly they are in one section. The other left side is empty:;dk. I have 2 filters, one on each side and on the empty side there is a aerating rice mill that blows bubbles. Do you think they dont like it:;dk Is it normal for them to stay on one side instead of swimming all over:;dk

Thanks much

I had the same problem in my 55 gal. tank. It turned out that they liked the more planted section of my tank. I moved things around and evenly put plants through out the tank and now they are everywhere not in just one section of the tank. I have bubbles on each side of the tank and a uv/clarifier that blows a current and it was that the fish I had liked the areas that had more plants. It does not matter if they are fake or real. I have a mixture of both in my tank but more live plants. Move things around and don't have big open areas in the tank. You will notice a big change. I moved things in the middle area of my tank so that they have a place to go in the back and in the front. Plants evenly in the the middle all the way across to both sides. Some fish just feel more secure by the plants then being in the open.
