Well im a first time poster long time reader of this forum. I figured id make my introduction with pictures of my 55 gallon tank.
I started off the year with a 20 gallon and quickly upgraded to the 55 gallon by the beginning of June. By the end of June the tank was cycled and the fun hasn't stopped. I also took the 20g tank and set it up for my sister in law with 3 small african cichlids.
In the 55g tank their are,
2 Bala sharks
2 Rosy Barbs
2 scissor tail Rasboras
1 Pictus cat
and 1 red tail shark.
I just picked up the RTS earlier this week. The poor thing was housed with some nasty cichlids so i'm hoping now that he's in a happier home he will color up very soon. He has been very very peaceful and happy since I picked him up. Anyways on to the pics
I will update these pix very soon when I get some more uploaded onto the computer
butiful tank only thing im gonna warn u about is not to overstock that tank. those sharks get pretty big from what i heard but right now u look like ur doing good. not overcrowded at all but correct me if im wrong
I wish bala sharks would stay small. I love mine but they are getting HUGE!! I have them in a 55 gallon right now and in about 5 months they will have to go back to the store!
I had to upgrade for my balas, became to attached to let them go.
They are some funny fish! I hang up some zucchini for them a few times a week. When they are eating their zucchini, it sounds like someone is knocking on the door, with the loud clicking noises their mouths make.

just noticed the redness on the base of her fin this morning....not sure what to make of it as shes acting like normal and my parameters are well within their limits. I'm hoping it is just some sort of injury that she may have gotten while scrambling for food but Ill have to keep an eye on her as well as the others to make sure their isn't some sort of parasite floating around in their
One of 2 pictus cats hangen out waiting for food
and two shots from my other tank with its newest edition:-D
and just to update the tanks inhabitants. My balas have found a new home in a much larger tank of another local fish keeper. And ive added a couple more rosy's and another pictus cat
bump it up...ive switched things around a lot. Ive moved the cichlids from the 30g into the 55g and the rosy barbs into the 30g. Im relizing now i should have just started with these damn cichlids, they are to much fun:lol:
some new pix as well
