torn fin

My male guppy (macho man) has what looks like a tear in his tail fin. It looks like it torehttp://www.fishlore.com/fishforum/im...s/dontknow.gif. Will it heal on its own? All of my water params are good, 0,0,10. Should I do anything special?

I read you can add salt when that happens but I have cories!!!

Thanks much

There is always a chance of infection, but most times they will just heal on their own.
Keep a close eye on him for any signs of illness. For now, I would just try to fit in some extra water changes.

Lots of clean water is probably the best prescription. Fish are very good at healing themselves if they get the chance.

i agree with Ghreed...........clean water and more water changes......dont add salt........keep an eye on your other fish and make sure he is not getting nipped at while healing

My Oscars fins were torn badly by my JD and they actually healed overnight after the JD was taken out.
