Can anyone identify this hitch hiker?

He came with live rock, and is apparently the worse for wear and tear.

The asternia starfish or is there something else I am looking at?

badxgillen 10-18-2013 10:25 AM

If it is the starfish then they are a hardy safe hitch hiker for the most part.usually eating diatom algae.

In googling starfish pictures, it does look like asterina.
Thanks!

Yeah, and they split and "reproduce" often, so they never look symmetrical (at least in my experience...)

Yep, agree with what has been said.
I have about 18 in my tank, although probably more now, usually only see them after the main lights are off and the night lights are on.
