unwanted snails
Once again I need your help. I have a planted 55 gallon freshwater tank. The snails are taking over my tank. My wife tries hand picking them but she cant keep up. It is a community tank with tetras and cory cats. Can anyone give me a solution to removing the unwanted snails ? any and all advice will be welcome.

Or if you dont wanna buy clown loaches...throw a slice of cucumber or letuce in there and leave it in overnight. In the morning it will be covered with snails and you can take it out and toss it.

Do not go the route of clown loaches!.......Your tank is not large enough for one (when it reaches maturity) much less 3............Worldshaker gave you a great suggestion with the cucumber slice........You could also try a piece of summer squash or zuchinni, all three will work at attracting snails to it............It will be a constant battle for a few weeks, but this method will work.........You will need to keep it on the gravel.....The best and least expensive way i found is a simple stainless steel fork, pierce the veggie and lay it on your gravel...........You could also look into getting assassin snails, which will eat the pest snails, but will also attack any other snail in the tank............I had an issue in my one shrimp tank and both of these methods have curbed the pest snails to a minimum.............I doubt you will ever get rid of them all, but you can keep them in check...............Try cutting back on the amount of food you feed your fish..............the more food laying around, the more the snails will breed.........Good Luck!!

+1 to everything Fishin Pole has stated. I've had great luck using spinach. For some reason my snails don't like lettuce or cucumber.

I have been away from the computer for a few days.
I will try the lettuce and see if it works.
