T-5 or VHO?
im currently building my 125gal and it has a large hood, it currently has 4, 48" flourcesent bulbs, im thinking of buying an Icecap 660, then getting 4, 48" VHO bulbs with a final output of 440 watts, i want a fowlr, is this enough for that, and would this setup ever support corals?
It's your choice on what you get. Depends on the corals you chose to get. I think you should get T5 because they are known for penetrating deeper then VHO lighting. You can use lower light required corals. 4 Isn't going to be enough IMHO. 6or more would be ideal if you have plans to go with more advanced corals and anemones. For some ideas of what you're going to need you can check here.
has anyone used an icecap 660?
I think onefish has it or conger, but either way, i have never heard anything negative about it. Only things i have heard is that they love it. I trust icecap and they are a great company, with great customer service.
well, since i can't edit my post, now that i look at the cost of ballast's and bulbs and hardware im looking at t-5 fixtures, around $500? any good ones?
you can go to ReefGeek > Aquarium Supplies for Marine, Reef, and Saltwater Aquariums . it has different types of bulbs ballast and fixtures and the have reasonable prices. Another site is Aquarium Pet Fish Supplies, Tank Accessories, Products & Equipment . If you don't want to spend so much money then you can always go with retro fit kits.
