My new [old] 100 gal
I brought this 100 gallon with lights, 3 filters, stand and stuff for $125. Think I did good. It will take me awhile to finish it. Fish came out of my 29 gallon. I am going to mahe a wood hood, and am unsure which bulbs to use. I will buy the sockets , etc., can someone point me in the right direction on what equipment to use?
For $125 you did great. I'm clueless when it comes to DIY but lots of people here have that know how and I'm sure they'll come along shortly. Welcome to the forum! :-)
PS. What kind of filters did you get?
Hello and welcome to the forum!
Congrats on the new tank! Great deal!
I see one of the filters is an Emperor 400, great filter, that alone cost $55 new.
For $125 I would say that's a great deal.
amazing deal!! those filters the tank, the stand wow..... you definately stole that :P as far as the diy lighting this kind of depends on what you are gunna end up having in ur tank. if you want to make your own two panel tops best way to do that is some acrylic and some hinges (all found at home depot) as far as lighting its pretty easy to come up with your own. you can either go with cfl (compact florecent) t5 (the skinny floro tubes) or t8 (the commonly found fatter tubes). home depot sells all kinds of floro fixtures for all diffrent types of bulbs. they also sell the reflecting metal type material that you can use to get maximum lighting from your tubes. then using acrylic mold yourself a fixture glue in your tube fixture pop in ur light and boom there you go. inexspensive and very effective DIY lighting. hope this helps Money
