Poll

My freshwater 75 gallon community tank needs a change.

Should I:

1. Upgrade to a 90 gallon reef?

2. Keep it 75 and make it a planted community?

Haha, I bet I'll be one of the few(if not the only)to vote 75 planted community ;-) Just not much of a salty myself.

Why not do both? ;-)
If you can't do both I vote for a lushly planted 75. What fish do you currently have in the 75??

Right now I have 6 cories and a hatchetfish. Had a fish tank catastrophe about a month ago. I'll be giving the hatchet to a friend and the cories to my LFS.

I'd love to have a nice planted tank with a huge school of neons. My old man always had jack dempseys and oscars when i was a kid. I've wanted to have a nice planted community tank for almost 25 years. Maybe now is my chance. I am very tempted by a reef tank, which would be way more $.

Fortunately I have a buddy that distributes CO2. So, for my beer making adventures I'm already stocked up on CO2.

I have a nice full tank with a regulator. What else would I need to get a planted tank going? How much money are we talking about investing?

Indecisive. Please help.

I've no experience with pressurized co2 units so will wait for others to comment. I know you can have a nicely planted tank with tons of neons without using pressurized co2 but since you already have the unit....

go for the planted community a lot less maintenance than a reef setup but just as entertaining.

I have zero experience with plants, so any advice would help.
