Groove in Cory Cat belly??
1 Attachment(s)
Hello there. Thank you for taking the time to look at my post. Im having issues trying to figure out what is wrong with my albino cory cats belly. I just noticed it this morning when he was tilted onto the glass. It seems that he has a sort of groove in his underside. But it isnt a open sore. Ever seen this before?

I see him trailing the bottom of the tank..I throw in algae wafers, shrimp pellets and tank nibblers. They seem to love them. But how much of it he is eating, im not sure.

I've seen some strange abnormalities in some of these guys in stores recently. Misshapen in all types of way and many different defects. Could just be how this one was made ...(I don't know why I feel weird saying hatched about fish :-? ). But it also perhaps is a healed wound from the rocks? How long have you owned this one? BTW sand is their much preferred substrate. I'd just keep a close eye and look out for any abnormal behaviors..or if a recent purchase I'd exchange for a different one.

Abnormalities with fins are the most common issues that I have seen with the Cory species I have dealt with ( I don't have the heart to cull); I have seen few body issues but that pic looks like malnourishment. IMO small sinking micro pellets are the best food for Cory. This helps spread the food out so the less aggressive feeds have a chance. This could be a food issue or an internal parasite issue.

Thank you for responding! Sadly..the lil guy didnt make it :( I was also told by the pet store guy that he might have been getting bullied by the others, cause he was smaller so he wasnt eating as much. I feed sinking shrimp pellets and algae wafers. I will try some other types of food for them, to make sure everyone is getting their fair share.
