Lettuce not working for snails

Im trying to rid some of my snails from my tank. Several sites recommended lettuce stating that they really liked it. Ive tried twice leaving it overnight and not one snail in the morning on or around it and defiantly not eaten.

Any other ideas to keep the population down?

You have room in that tank for a loach? they sift through the substrate and eat snails.

Before you add a loach (a single loach is not a good idea IMHO as loaches require a group to be happy & thrive) how about trying a piece of spinach instead of lettuce? The snails I have go nuts for spinach, as a result my tank is virtually snail free. Worth a try, I think.

you could also try a slice of cucumber or summer squash.........The snails in my tanks come running when i put a piece of veggie in.......
