One dies,3 new ones??

I think I may have figured out what got my first baby..well i dunno i could be wrong. But I just tore apart the tank, took out the plants, and stirred. There was a buttload of gas built up under all of those. Especially the log thingy. Ugh. I feel so bad. Cause thats where they always hang out. So did i kill him?
But in tearing apart the tank,i found 3 babies. One I think was the one I spotted when I moved them orignally into the 12. Its bigger than the other 2. The other 2 are tiny, but not tadpoles. Hope i didnt just give them a death sentence having them all out in the open. :-(

So maybe in a month the new babies will come out. I will have to remember to stir sand under the log thingy a HECK of alot more. If i want any to survive. Plus i noticed the temp was a lil high. So i turned down the heater. Sigh.

Its okay you have to learn from mistakes and others will learn too.
I now know that I should stir under my decorations.

This is off topic but when you do a water change, did your cory catfish get frisky and start cleaning everything and just become really active?

Yeah I guess so. Sorry baby #1!
Yup stir,stir,stir that sand lol.
Mine kinda..uh freak out I think? They like zoom all over the tank like what the heck lady. A couple still dont like wcs,and act funny for a little while, but they come around once everythings settled.

I don't think you killed your baby. As of lately, I have been reading that the whole trapped gas thing, killing fresh water fish is a myth. That it only occurs in saltwater tanks.

Look on the bright side, you have had great luck in getting your cory to reproduce. That is incredible in itself. My cory have only laid eggs once, never any fry. Raising up fry, is not easy! I think you are doing a great job!

Oh for real? Hmm..interesting...
Thanks I appreciate that! They are quite adorable. I just dont know how to get them to adulthood lol. The first baby, grew so dang slow,he was still half the size of the adults. I thought he was supposed to be adult size by then..So I dunno...

I keep seeing one of the small babies wandering around...arent they supposed to hide lol?? I think I miscounted too..I think there maybe 4 babies..Bc two were tiny, but not tadpoles, one was bigger than them, and this other one I just saw is somewhere in between. Heh.

Be nice to have some survive to adulthood, somehow. They must be happy pandas though,to keep spawning on their own like that. Am i gonna need a bigger tank again lol?

What do you feed your cories? I would like to spawn mine in the future. However I would still like to finish my aquarium with plants and driftwood first.

They get a variety. Between algae wafers, carnivore wafers, several kinds of flakes, frozen daphnia, shrimp pellets, tetra crisps...umm...I think thats it lol.

Rohland 09-01-2009 03:45 PM

i will go expand my food selection shortly.
I think i will get algae wafers, and some freeze dried shrimp and blood worms.
