DIY top off water

My plan is to take normal tap water, put it in a bottle. Put a bottle on top of that bottle and heat it up. Then i would use the evaporated water as a top-of for my tank, is this possible?

lol that would be extremely slow. Y dont you just buy distilled water?
But if you want directions on how to build a reel still I can give you directions,(iv done it before) but y not just buy a ro filter? My local grecery store has a ro vending machine-39 cents a gallon.

I Like to Build Stuff instead of Buying it.
it's a Lot more Fun.
