Water Changes make all the difference?
I had one Angel fish whose mouth was white and I didn't know why. It wasn't fuzzy or infected looking, just his bottom lip was white and none of my other angel's mouths were. I put him in a seperate tank and I have been doing water changes religiously and he seems to be getting better, no meds..
So, what do you's think? You think that the water changes by themselves can heal fish?
I think water changes help more than people sometimes realize. Many,(myself included) believe that bacteria, fungus, finrot, and some parasites are often a result of poor or deteriorating water conditions. As water conditions get worse, the fish become stressed. The fishes immune sytem then becomes weakened allowing the bacteria, fungus ,etc to get a better hold on the fish, and if water conditions are not improved,,the fish continues to get weaker until it is too late for medications.
However,, if water quality is maintained at high standard and the pH,alkalinity, etc are suitable for the fish, many fish can fight off infections, bacteria, and or other pathogens. And it is also known that no mecications will help fish in poor water conditions so it really does pay to maintain the tank properly.
