Kuhli Loaches & White Cloud Minnows & Temperature
 

I've read in a couple places (notably Loaches: Natural History and Aquarium Care) that white cloud minnows are good tank mates/dither fish for cobitidae loaches (like pangio kuhlii). I'd like to use them in my tank, but I'm concerned that their preferred temperature ranges don't overlap... White clouds seem to prefer 62-73 F, kuhlis 76-84 F (varies a little depending on source).

How are people combining these species? Do they just keep the temperature in the low range for kuhlis and let the white clouds adjust since they're hardier?

Kuhlii's and whiteclouds will do fine at temps of 74 to to76 degrees.

So what happens when you keep fish at temperatures that are too warm for them? Decreased lifespan? It seems kind of inhumane to me.
