can I do a partial water change?
One of my guppies had fry on monday and she still looks pregnant. Can I do a partial water change with her like that or should I wait? I usually do it on sat and sometimes on wed also.
If you think she is pregnant then I would wait a couple of days. No need to stress out a fish in her condition.
Do you pre-heat the swap water so that it matches in temp? I am sure you dechlor and all that other good stuff. :)
How big is the tank? What percentage do you normally change? These factors could impact the decission.
My tank is 35 gal and yes I try to match the water as close as possible and yes I treat the water first. Actually the mom died and after I removed her I did the water change at least 10%. I think she was having problems as she still looked pregnant. The good news is there are at least 5 fry still in the tank.
sorry to hear you lost your guppie. I like to change my tanks that have breeding pairs every other day and I remove about 75% of the water. you can never go wrong doing to many w/cs. I would do atleast a 50% every 3-4 days if you are feeding your fish really well to get them in shape for breeding. I dont see much benifit in cahnging small amounts 'BIGGER is BETTER' and your fish will love you for it.
