Lighting too intense for java fern
As the title says, my lighting is too intense for my java fern. The plant is not placed directly under the light, so the side away from it looks fine, but the side closer to it has a few "burned" leaves. It will be difficult to find a new light that is less intense. Is there anything I can do to make the light less intense? (painting over tip maybe?)
If not, does anyone know where I can find a tube shaped bulb that's less intense or maybe comes in a nice color?
I'm not sure what to do, but I'm open for suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
What type of light (Fluorescent tube, incadescent, CF screw-in...) is it? And what wattage, and light type? And how big is the tank?
There could be options once we know the above. I certainly wouldn't paint a light bulb/tube, all sorts of things could happen.
hehe ... before telling us "all " about your lite.. please tell us what kind and what is it.. and how much and so on and so forth..
isnt that what Byron asked?
It is an incandecent screw-in lamp. I believe it's 25 watt (memory isn't too good and I couldn't find anything that said what it was. I've only been keeping it on for a few hours a day lately, and that seems to have helped, but I prefer to leave it on a little more.
The CF come in various colours of white, like warm white, cool white, intense white. Rhonda Wilson who authors the monthly plant feature in TFH says these bulbs are good for plants if you have incandescent fixtures.
thanks, i'll try to find another bulb
