reptiles and fish together?
so my wife and i are getting a list of fish together that we want and she brought up the idea of wanting some type of turtle in the tank with the fish. i told he that isnt possible since turtles eat fish "or atleast i think they do" so in order to get some clarification and resolution out of this im coming to you guys!
Yes turtles do and will eat fish. They also get quite large, I believe the guideline is about 10gal per 1" diameter shell. Considering most painted and redear's can get up to 7" across, you could be looking at a 70gal tank, 55gal would be absolute minimum. Also turtles are heavy waste producers, so expect water quality to degrade quickly. So you need lots and lots of water changes. You need a land area as well for the turtle to get out of the water as well as specialized UVB lighting, which terrapins NEED. A heat lamp would be a good idea too.
wow thats alot of extra stuff we dont need lol. thank you though for this info as i win this argument with her!!! finally a argument won :D
