Hunting in my tank
I came in to work this morning and saw a flury of activity in the little 3 gallon tank in my office. The one Ghost Shrimp in the tank was literally stalking and hunting the Cardinal Tetras. He'd creep and crawl really slow until he got relatively close to one of them. Then he'd lunge with incredible speed at the fish and try to grasp it with his claws. He actually got one claw around the tail of one Cardinal at one point but the Cardinal managed to break free.
As soon as I realized what was going on I put some food in the tank. The shrimp immediately started up with his normal behavior of scavenging food off the ground and left the Tetras alone.
I guess I need to feed them more to keep the shrimp from getting hungry and hunting the fish.
Ha that must've been a sight!
My ghost shrimp don't even move, let alone hunt

I've always loved the two ghost shrimp I have in my tank. at some point i'm going to get a couple more. They're always really active and attempt to swim upside down on the surface to steal any food they can from the fish. At one point the female had a big group of eggs but they've randomly dissapeared at this point :( I hope to someday keep a group of em.

I have 3 ghost shrimp and they are a blast to watch. The like to hang out on the tops of the plastic plants. They dont hunt the fish but they steal the pellets from the corries.

i wouldnt try to keep shrimp in a tank with anything but the smaller tetras and rasboras, and thats if you have alot of plant cover and driftwood for them to hide under......The smaller danios in some of my tanks have eaten some of the shrimp, but for the mostpart leave them alone........I have red cherries in a 30 gallon with gold tetras, HY511 Tetras, harlequin rasboras and brilliant rasboras and the shrimp are thriving and breeding.........
