hi i am new to this forum and it is my first time keeping an oscar.
I have him in a 29 gallon tank with two penguin 200 bio wheel filters i was wondering how long i have till i need to upgrade him to a bigger tank.
btw planning on getting a 125 near christmas and he is about 6 in already.
Hi MarkyMark- Welcome to the forum!
You're upgrading to a 125 at Christmas time? Lucky you :-)
Not sure on an Oscar's growth rate but I'd think between now & the holidays he'd be fine in your 29.
After you move him to the 125 what are your plans for the 29?
right now my oscar is alone in there but i might add another oscar once i get the 125 , and use the 30 as a grow out tank.
your oscar is too big for your tank now and will be close to 8inch plus by christmas. oscars can grow at a rate of 1/2inch to 1inch a month the first year after birth. until you get the bigger tank, test you water at least twice a week and when nitrates get around 20, change 50 -75% of water.
