Canister filter recommendations
Hi guys, I am getting ready to buy a canister filter for a 40 gallon tank. I am thinking of a fluval 304. Does anyone have experience with this filter, or can anyone recommend a good one? This is a lot of money and I don't want to make a mistake

What size tank is it? and where are you located?

I would recommend the Tetratec series if you live in the uk, i picked up the ex1200 model and have been very happy with it.
More for your money than fluval/eheim and comparable quality, hth

I live near Spokane WA, the tank size is a 40 gallon hex.

I would look at other externals rather than fluval, its not that they are bad, but there are better externals for the money. As mike said Tetratec externals are excellent externals, but I don't think they are available to you. I would be looking to see if you can source a Eheim at a good price.. Caferacermike may be able to help you more with where to get them

Thanks for all the help! :D I am totally clueless about canister filters and it is really great to get so much advice. I will check in to Eheim and Tetratec

It seems like I may be able to get a tetratec PF300 on Ebay for a pretty good price

i have a fluval 405 and it cleared up my sand dust in less than 4 days witch is really good. so i guess you would have the same results with the 304 GL :D
